We'd like to remind readers that the responses to queries are usually
best posted to the individual asking the question. That individual is
then strongly encouraged to post a summary to the list. This policy was
instituted to help control the huge volume of mail on LINGUIST; so we
would appreciate your cooperating with it whenever it seems appropriate.

In addition to posting a summary, we'd like to remind people that it
is usually a good idea to personally thank those individuals who have
taken the trouble to respond to the query.

To post to LINGUIST, use our convenient web form at
http://linguistlist.org/LL/posttolinguist.html.

I am looking for monolingual lexicons in text or database format, for
Germanic languages (mainly English, German and Dutch). I need them for a
project in computational linguistics, and I prefer to have something free
(although I am willing to pay a small amount for a good quality lexicon).

I need the size to be at least 50,000 words in their citation (dictionary)
form. Additional indications, such as parts of speech, or properties like
[in]transitivity, gender, etc, would be desirable, but not necessary.
Thanks in advance for any information you can provide!

What's 'CEDEL2'?
- CEDEL2 (Corpus Escrito del Español L2) is a research project at the
Universidad Autónoma de Madrid and the Universidad de Granada (Spain).
- We are investigating how English-speaking people learn Spanish.

Who Can Participate?
- Learners of Spanish who have English as their mother tongue: any level
(beginner, intermediate, advanced).
- Native speakers of Spanish.

How Can You Participate?
- You are requested to fill in three online and anonymous forms about
Spanish language at:
http://www.uam.es/woslac/start.htm

WHAT CAN YOU GET FROM IT?
--------------------------
- Learners: you will be emailed the Spanish grammar test results, so you
can know your level of Spanish grammar.
- We will send you by post a printed certificate (stamped by the
Universidad Autónoma de Madrid) stating that you have participated in our
project.

WHO HAS ALREADY PARTICIPATED?
-----------------------------
So far, we have received data from different institutions all over the
world, e.g.,:
- USA: Georgia State University, University of Wisconsin at Madison, Boston
University, Skidmore Collegue, Rutgers University, George Washington
University.

The LINGUIST List is under the umbrella of Eastern Michigan University and as such can
receive donations through the EMU Foundation, which is a registered 501(c) Non Profit
organization. Our Federal Tax number is 38-6005986. These donations can be offset against
your federal and sometimes your state tax return (U.S. tax payers only). For more
information visit the IRS Web-Site, or contact your financial advisor.

Many companies also offer a gift matching program, such that they will match any gift
you make to a non-profit organization. Normally this entails your contacting your human
resources department and sending us a form that the EMU Foundation fills in and returns
to your employer. This is generally a simple administrative procedure that doubles the
value of your gift to LINGUIST, without costing you an extra penny. Please take a moment
to check if your company operates such a program.

Thank you very much for your support of LINGUIST!
