The LINGUIST List strongly encourages employers to use
non-discriminatory standards in hiring policy. In particular we urge
that employers do not discriminate on the grounds of race, ethnicity,
nationality, age, religion, gender, or sexual orientation. However, we
have no means of enforcing these standards.

Job seekers should pay special attention to language in ads regarding
employment requirements and are encouraged to consult our international
employment page http://linguistlist.org/jobs/jobnet.html. This page has been set
up so that people can report on the employment standards of various countries.

Description:
The Department of Language and Business Communication invites applications
for a position as Chair (Full Professor) in Translation Studies. The
position is available from July 1, 2008 subject to mutual agreement.

The full professorship is a permanent position which includes research,
research management, teaching and administrative duties. The position is
with the research group for Translation & Interpreting
(http://www.asb.dk/about/departments/isek/forskning/forskergrupper/tolkning.aspx)
which we expect the full professor to chair.

The research area is broadly defined as Translation Studies and includes
translation/interpreting theory and research methods and/or empirical
research on translation/interpreting. Although there are no restrictions as
to paradigms or approaches, the research group exclusively deals with
translation for business purposes (non-literary translation). The teaching
obligations will be within the field of translation and business language
at all levels from BA to PhD. As the position involves teaching in
translation between English and Danish, applicants who are not native

English must master Danish at near-native level.

The applications will be evaluated by an expert assessment committee.
Priority will be given to candidates with a solid record of original
scientific production at an international level, including development of
the research area in question, i.e. Translation Studies. The candidate's
ability to undertake research management and administrative tasks will also
be taken into account. Finally, the candidate is expected to have the
qualifications required for undertaking teaching responsibilities. Special
contributions to and development of courses, programmes and teaching
methods will be taken into account when assessing the candidate's teaching
qualifications. The successful candidate is expected to take up residence
in the region of Aarhus.

The appointment will be in accordance with the agreement between the Danish
Ministry of Finance and the Danish Confederation of Professional
Associates. The current annual salary is approximately DKK 532,000 (EUR
71.000) plus a pension bonus of 17.1%. The school also offers a generous
sabbatical agreement with research sabbatical every 9th semester.

The application should contain:
- a CV
- documents substantiating research and teaching qualifications
- a complete numbered list of publications and working papers. Research
publications and working papers which the applicant wishes to be included
in the evaluation should be marked by an asterisk (*).
- five hard copies of the asterisk-marked scientific publications. Please
note that a maximum of ten research publications and/or working papers may
be submitted).
- co-authors' statements relating to the publications enclosed
- a brief statement of future research plans

The application, including any documents enclosed, should be submitted in
five copies, marked "Position No. 1002.22," and sent to the address below.
