Description:

The Patholinguistics Division at the Institute of Linguistics at Potsdam
University, Germany, announces the launching of a PhD Program in Clinical
Linguistics starting in July, 2007.

This is a three-year program offering course work aimed at broadening the
scope of the candidates to the four areas covered by the school: neuro- and
psycholinguistics, language processing and functional neuroimaging,
specialisation seminars and individual tutoring of dissertation research.
The language of instruction is English.

Applicants should have completed their undergraduate training and be able
to present evidence of adequate knowledge in at least one of the four main
research areas of the school. Applications should contain a statement of
purpose, a curriculum vitae, samples of any previous work, course and grade
lists (transcripts), references and, where applicable, evidence of adequate
command of the English language. 

Financial Aid:
Candidates that are admitted may expect to have the university fees waived.
In addition, we expect to be able to offer a minimum of 4 research
assistantships for three years. These assistantships provide sufficient
financial support (EUR 1000/month) to cover the basic living expenses.

Location:
Potsdam is located to the south and east of Berlin, the capital of Germany.
The distance between the two cities is about 40 km. They are linked by
train connection. 

Institutional Links:
The patholinguistics division at the University of Potsdam cooperates with
the Berlin Neuroimageing Center at the Humboldt University and with the Max
Planck Institute for Cognitive Neuroscience in Leipzig. The Division has
its own therapy centers in Potsdam and Berlin.

Technological Facilities:
A wide range of technological facilities is available: PCs, eye-tracking
machines, ERP-lab and other facilities for experimental language behaviour
research.
