Description:

The Department of Linguistics at Stanford University invites applications
for a full-time visiting position in syntax and/or semantics at the rank of
Acting Assistant Professor for the 2007-08 Academic Year.  The visitor will
be expected to teach four quarter-length courses over the three quarters of
the academic year and to advise students on their research.  Teaching will
be at both the graduate and the undergraduate levels and will include core
courses in syntax and/or semantics, as well as courses that either
contribute to the curriculum in these areas more broadly, or complement the
department's current offerings.

Applicants must hold a PhD in Linguistics or a related field by September
1, 2007.  Stanford University is an equal opportunity, affirmative action

Applications should include the candidate's CV, statements of teaching and
research interests, teaching evaluations (if available), up to three
representative samples of published or unpublished work, and the names and
e-mail addresses of three or four referees.  Applicants should also arrange
for their letters of reference to be sent directly to the Department no
