Description:

The Department of Modern Languages at Northern Arizona University,
Flagstaff, invites applications for a tenure track Assistant Professor in
Spanish position with a specialization in Second Language Education
beginning in August, 2008. Duties will include teaching second language
pedagogy courses for secondary education majors in Spanish, German, and
French; courses for the MA in Teaching Spanish, and Spanish undergraduate
language, pedagogy, and methodology courses. Duties will also include
supervision of student teachers, research in foreign language education or
a related field; advising minors, majors and graduate students; department,
university and community service. 

Minimum Qualifications:
a) PhD in Spanish with emphasis in Second Language Education or PhD in
Spanish Linguistics with an emphasis in second language
acquisition/pedagogy, or related field completed by August 2008; 
b) superior proficiency in Spanish and English; 
c) teaching experience at the College level.

Preferred Qualifications:
a) Demonstrated ability to teach undergraduate and graduate courses in
second language acquisition, pedagogy, and assessment.
b) Strong evidence of scholarly research activity and a clear research agenda.
c) Supervision of student field work experience; 
d) Commitment to working with diverse populations.
e) Teaching experience at the secondary level.
f)  Proficiency in French and/or German.
g) Experience with NCATE, accreditation, and assessment, $50,000 - $53,000

The search will remain open until the position is filled or closed;
however, the committee will begin reviewing applications on November 30, 2007.

transcripts of graduate coursework, a statement of teaching philosophy,
sample syllabi, current teaching evaluations, and evidence of scholarly
