Description:

The University of Pittsburgh is offering a limited number of graduate teaching
assistantships to students applying to the MA/PhD program in Hispanic
Linguistics through the Department of Linguistics for the upcoming 2008-2009
academic year. As part of the graduate program, students receive a solid
foundation in general linguistics and then specialize in topics in Hispanic
Linguistics, including Spanish phonology, syntax, dialectology,
sociolinguistics, the history of the Spanish language, and second language
acquisition.

Qualified applicants may be considered for a graduate teaching assistantship,
which includes tuition and fee waivers, as well as a monthly stipend during the
academic year. Graduate assistants teach undergraduate courses offered as part
of the Spanish basic language program, which is administered through the
Department of Hispanic Languages and Literatures. Demonstration of native or
native-like fluency in Spanish is necessary prior to appointment.
