Dear Colleagues,

We are proud to announce the foundation of The International Association
for Maltese Linguistics / L-G?aqda Internazzjonali tal-Lingwistika Maltija
(G?ILM). The association was founded on October 19th 2007 in the course of
the Maltese Linguistics / Lingwistika Maltija conference (18-20 October)
at the University of Bremen.

At the inaugural meeting Thomas Stolz (Bremen) was elected the first
president of the association. The vice-presidents are Bernard Comrie
(Leipzig), Manwel Mifsud (Malta), Ray Fabri (Malta) and Martine Vanhove
(Villejuif). Until now G?ILM has 43 members from 14 different countries
world-wide including Algeria, Austria, Belgium, France, Germany, Ireland,
Israel, Italy, Japan, Luxembourg, Malta, Spain, the USA and the UK.

The primary goal of G?ILM is the facilitation of research on the Maltese
language by providing a connection between interested scholars from all
sub-disciplines of Linguistics.

If you are interested in joining G?ILM or if you want to know more about
the goals and plans of the International Association for Maltese
Linguistics, please visit our website http://www.fb10.uni-bremen.de/ghilm
or contact us via ghaqda at uni-bremen.de.
