Description:

The Division of Computational Linguistics in the Dept. of Linguistics at
the University of Tuebingen, Germany is searching for a computational
linguist whose research experience complements existing strengths in the
department. While computational linguists working in any subarea of the
field are encouraged to apply, preference will be given to candidates who
specialize in one or more of the following areas:

data-driven approaches to computational linguistics (esp. machine
learning); dialogue modeling; question-answering; computational
lexicography; information extraction; text summarization.

Knowledge of German is highly desirable. Duties for this post include
teaching, independent research and participation in externally-funded,
on-going research projects. Further information about the department can be
found on our website.

The starting date for the position is April 1, 2008.  The initial period of
appointment is for three years, with the possibility of renewal for another
three-year term.

The position is at the rank of 'Akademischer Rat auf Zeit' (PhD or
equivalent required) or at the rank of 'Wissenschaftlicher Mitarbeiter' (MA
or equivalent required). The salary is determined by the German civil
servants standard (Besoldungsgruppe A 13 for appointment as Akademischer
Rat, or Entgeltgruppe 13 TV-L for appointment as Wiss. Mitarbeiter) and
amounts to approximately 57.600 Euro per year. The exact salary amount
varies depending on experience and marital status.
