Description:

City University of Hong Kong is one of eight higher education institutions
directly funded by the Government of the Hong Kong Special Administrative
Region through the University Grants Committee (Hong Kong). It aims to

posts.  Candidates with applied research achievements will receive very

Professor (Chair) / Professor in Linguistics and/or in East-West
Cross-Cultural Studies [Ref. C/822/09] Department of Chinese, Translation
and Linguistics 

Duties: 
Teach and carry out research in one or more of the following areas: 
Phonology; Language Contact; East-West Comparative Studies involving
Chinese or East Asian literature and culture.

Requirements:
A PhD degree in a relevant area of study with substantial experience in
tertiary education, an outstanding and internationally recognized record of
research and publication. Experience in cross-linguistic or cross-cultural
studies desirable.  The ability to work well with colleagues is essential. 

Salary and Conditions of Service
Salary offered will be highly competitive and commensurate with the
candidate's qualifications and experience. The appointment will either be
on superannuable terms with provision for superannuation benefits, or on a
fixed-term contract with contract-end gratuity. The University offers
competitive employee benefits, including annual leave, medical and dental
schemes, housing benefits and passage allowance [for Professor (Chair)].
