Meeting Description

Semantics and Linguistic Theory (SALT) is the major North-American conference on
formal semantics as a subfield of linguistics. 

We invite submissions of abstracts for 30-minute presentations (plus 10-minute
discussions) on any topic pertaining to natural language semantics with
relevance to linguistic theory. Abstracts must be anonymous and should be at
most 2 pages (A4 or US Letter) in length, including examples and references,
using a 12pt font with 1-inch (2.5 cm) margins on all four sides. These
limitations will be strictly enforced.

SALT 18 will feature a poster session. We ask that you indicate in your
submission email whether you would like your abstract to be considered for
poster presentation. Poster presentations will be published as regular papers in
the proceedings.

Policies

Authors may be involved in at most two submissions and may be the sole author of
at most one abstract. No single author will be allowed to give more than one
presentation at the conference.

SALT does not accept papers that at the time of the conference have been
published or have been accepted for publication. In addition, preference will be
given to presentations that are not duplicated at other major conferences. We
therefore request that authors indicate prior or planned presentations of their
papers along with their contact information when they submit their abstracts.

The Penn Linguistics Colloquium is an annual conference organized by
graduate students in the Department of Linguistics at the University of
Pennsylvania. Our invited speaker this year is Professor Sandra Chung from
the University of California, Santa Cruz. The special session is 'Prosody
and its interfaces'.

Call for Papers

The 32nd Annual Penn Linguistics Colloquium will take place February 22-24,
2008 at the University of Pennsylvania campus in Philadelphia. 

Invited Speaker: Sandra Chung of the University of California, Santa Cruz
''Chamorro possessives and the syntax-semantics of subjects''.

Special Session: Prosody and its interfaces 

Papers on any topic in linguistics and associated fields are welcome. Speakers
will have 20 minutes for their presentations and 5 minutes for discussion and
questions. 

Deadline: Abstracts are due Monday November 19, 2007. Notification of
acceptance/rejection will be given by Monday, January 14, 2008. 

Length: Please limit abstracts to one page, single- or double-spaced. An
additional page may be used for references and tables. Do not include your name
or affiliation within the abstract.

Format: To facilitate the review process, please submit your abstract as a
.pdf file. 

Submission: An online abstract submission form will be available at the PLC
website, http://www.ling.upenn.edu/Events/PLC/ 

Proceedings: Conference proceedings will be published as a volume of the Penn
Working Papers in Linguistics. Speakers will be invited to provide camera-ready
copies of their papers after the Colloquium.
