Description:

The ZHAW Zurich University of Applied Sciences is one of the largest
institutes of higher education in Switzerland, with eight different
Schools, 6,000 students, and 1,500 employees. The School of Applied
Linguistics offers academic degree programmes at the Bachelor and Master
levels; it also conducts research, offers professional development courses
and provides consultancy services in the area of applied linguistics. 

Within the framework of the project "Sensory Language and the Semantics of
Taste (SenS)", an interdisciplinary team from the Universities of Zurich
and Basel, the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology Zurich (ETH) and the
ZHAW is currently investigating the lexis of taste in the German language.
The aim is to provide specialists in relevant fields (consumer science,
food sensorics, linguistics) with a comprehensive data base of everyday
gustatory expressions.

In conjunction with this project, a permanent position (80-100%) is
available for a lexicographer.  

You will work as a research/teaching assistant in the Institute of
Translation and Interpreting. As a member of the project team, you will
conceive and implement the lexicographical aspects of the data base. You
will also teach in a related subject area, acquire external funding and
projects in your field, and provide methodological support for lexica
projects. 

You will hold a university degree in linguistics or a related area, and you
will have professional experience as a lexicographer. You are a German
native speaker, with a good knowledge of foreign languages and a strong
interest in multilingualism. You are interested in the challenge of
applying the findings of linguistic research in  practical settings. You
are a good team-player, you show initiative, and you are used to working in
complex organisations.
