Position Description and Duties:
The School of Education of Hunter College-CUNY invites applications for a
tenure-track position in TESOL (Teaching English to Speakers of Other
Languages), effective Sept. 2008. Appointment to this tenure-track position
is anticipated at the Assistant, Associate or Full Professor rank,
depending upon individual qualifications. The College places a high
priority upon research and teaching excellence with an expectation that
candidates will also be active in the profession. 

Duties include: 
Teaching graduate TESOL and applied linguistics courses in the School of
Education for prospective and in-service TESOL K-12 and adult education
professionals; supervising students in the field; advising students;
engaging in research and scholarly writing; serving on committees;
demonstrating professional involvement in the field.

Qualification Requirements:
Earned Doctorate by September 2008 in TESOL, Applied Linguistics, or
related field; candidates in the final stages of their doctoral program may
be appointed as a Lecturer until completion of the doctorate. Extensive
knowledge of theories and practice of TESOL/applied linguistics; ESL
teaching & supervisory experience; university teaching and research skills
required. Prefer expertise in one or more of the following areas: K-12 ESL
Teaching, or language assessment. Candidates must have a commitment to
working in multi-cultural and urban educational settings.
