Meeting Description: 

The first Philippine Linguistic Institute will offer courses in comparative, 
descriptive, applied and socio- linguistic topics with particular emphasis on
Philippine languages and language research in the Philippine setting. The goal
of the Institute is to provide local and international students of Philippine
languages and linguistics current 'state-of-the-art' coverage on selected topics
by leading researchers in the various fields.

Duration

The 4-week Institute is divided into two sessions of two weeks each. 
Each course covers a session, or 10 weekdays. Classes meet for 4 hours
daily.

Two seminars have been scheduled for Saturdays: 

Pre-Session, March 29 
Advances in Second Language Teaching (Jack Richards)

Mid-Session, April 12 
Computers in Linguistics (DLSU & SIL)
 
Course Credit

Successful completion of all requirements of a linguistic course entitles the
student to a credit of three graduate units from Philippine Normal University.
Certificates of attendance will also be issued to participants who complete a
course not for credit.

Registration Information

Institute Courses
All students who wish to attend the Institute must complete a participant
registration form. The registration fee will be 1,200 (Philippine) pesos per course.
