We'd like to remind readers that the responses to queries are usually
best posted to the individual asking the question. That individual is
then strongly encouraged to post a summary to the list. This policy was
instituted to help control the huge volume of mail on LINGUIST; so we
would appreciate your cooperating with it whenever it seems appropriate.

In addition to posting a summary, we'd like to remind people that it
is usually a good idea to personally thank those individuals who have
taken the trouble to respond to the query.

Dear Linguists,

I am currently working on a doctoral project whose aim it is to investigate
how syntactic features of pupils' writings are affected by their using a
word processor on a P.C. as opposed to writing by hand. I am collecting a
parallel corpus of texts written in a school context and will study these
with quantitative methods.

I have found very few references to work on syntactic effects of writing
mode, whether in a school context or not, and am interested in any such
references and indeed in contact with others working on similar projects.
My project addresses Norwegian pupils writing in Norwegian, but any
language would be relevant.

Thank you,

Bård Jensen (Mr)
