Description:

The University of Florida seeks applicants for a full-time position as
Lecturer in Chinese Language, to begin Fall 2008 with option to start in
summer. Duties will be rapidly expanding programs for East Asian Languages
& Literatures majors and for non-traditional students of Chinese language
and culture. Responsibilities are divided between teaching in the
undergraduate BA program and assisting in the design of a teaching
certification program for Chinese language majors and for K-12 teachers in
the state of Florida. Candidate should hold a MA in linguistics by time of
appointment, specialize in pedagogy and second-language acquisition, and be
familiar with language-teaching methodologies as well as computer-assisted
language instruction. They should have native or near-native competence in
Chinese and English, and teaching experience at US college level.

Interested candidates should submit cover letter, CV, statement of teaching
philosophy, sample syllabi, a teaching video, and three letters of

position is filled. Preliminary interviews will be held at the ACTFL
Conference in San Antonio, Texas on November 16 and 17. The University is
