Meeting Description: 

The title of the AItLA (Associazione italiana di Linguistica Applicata)
conference is: "Lingua, cultura e cittadinanza in contesti migratori.
Europa e area mediterranea" (Language, culture and citizenship in migratory
contexts. Europe and the Mediterranean area). Website:
www.educ.um.edu.mt/aitlamalta
The main areas of interest of the conference are: plurilingualism;
citizenship in European migratory contexts; intercultural communication 

Malta has been selected as the venue of this conference because its
geographical position and its history are particularly pertinent to this
theme, which is perfectly in accordance with the concept behind the
European Year of Intercultural Dialogue (2008). In fact, issues discussed
during the conference regard specifically cultural and linguistic diversity
and the promotion of solidarity.  Scholars, including academics and
post-graduate students, will be attending the conference. In all
participants will amount to circa 100 persons, mainly from Italy and from
Malta. However, other participants will also come from other European
countries: papers will be presented in English or Italian. Keynote speakers
will come from Italy, Holland, UK and Germany.
