Meeting Description:

The Center for Research on Language, Mind, & Brain (CRLMB) is pleased to
announce the 2nd International Symposium on Language, Mind, & Brain:
Mechanisms of Learning, Brain Plasticity, & Critical Periods

McGill University, Montreal, QC

Goals:
To discuss recent advances on learning mechanisms, memory systems, brain
plasticity and critical periods.

To facilitate and inspire the interdisciplinary exchange among researchers and
students from different backgrounds, and to promote collaborative research
projects in the future.

2nd International Symposium on Language, Mind, & Brain:
Mechanisms of Learning, Brain Plasticity, & Critical Periods

McGill University, Montreal, QC
20th-21st June, 2008

This symposium will feature presentations by eleven internationally renowned
researchers, from complementary areas in neuroscience, cognitive psychology, and
(psycho)linguistics whose work has contributed new and innovative perspectives
on the neurocognitive basis of learning in language and other cognitive domains.
The wide range of topics to be addressed includes: constraints in statistical
learning; recent attempts to control the neurobiology of critical periods;
cross-modal plasticity after rewiring the brain; and new (psycho)linguistic
perspectives on second language acquisition, among others.

Richard Aslin (U Rochester)
David Birdsong (U Texas, Austin)
David Corina (U of California, Davis)
