Description:

Applicants should have (i) an MPhil or PhD degree in linguistics or applied
linguistics with a specialization in second language acquisition; (ii)
knowledge of Chinese and the ability to lecture in both English and
Putonghua; preferably also (iii) expertise in one or more of the following
areas: acquisition of Chinese as a second language, language pedagogy, and
language variation; and (iv) knowledge of a foreign language and relevant
research experience. The appointee will (a) teach courses in second
language acquisition, linguistics and language teaching; and (b) supervise
projects and theses of undergraduate, MA, MPhil and PhD students.
Appointment will normally be made on contract basis for up to two years
initially commencing August 2009, leading to longer-term appointment or
substantiation later subject to mutual agreement.

Salary and Fringe Benefits
Salary will be highly competitive, commensurate with qualifications and
experience. The University offers a comprehensive fringe benefit package,
including medical care, plus a contract-end gratuity for an appointment of
two years or longer; and housing benefits for eligible appointees.
