Lecturer in Italian Studies (Cassamarca Foundation Lectureship)

The School of Languages and Cultures in the Faculty of Arts is seeking to
appoint a Level B Lecturer (equivalent to US assistant professor) in
Italian Studies from July 2008 for a full time fixed term of two years.
Applicants should hold a PhD degree or equivalent and have native or
near-native competence in Italian and English. 

The preferred applicant will have experience in Italian language teaching
and curriculum development in Italian language courses in a
research-university context, as well as a record of research, publication
and teaching in an area or areas of Italian Studies complementary to the
Department's current activities and research profile. 

The appointee will be required to work independently and collaboratively in
language course design, development and coordination; teach senior-level
units in his or her area of Italian Studies; take an active role in
administration, including WebCT and teaching administration; and maintain
an active research profile. He or she will also work to maintain close
contacts already established between the Department and the wider community.

Applicants are invited to indicate areas in addition to language teaching
in which they are most equipped to contribute to the current and future
teaching of the Department.

The position is full-time fixed term for two years (subject to the
completion of a satisfactory probation period) and is available from 1
July. Applicants should be available to commence teaching in Semester 2,
2008. Membership of a University approved superannuation scheme is a
condition of employment for new appointees.

Remuneration package: $85,031 - $100,974 p.a. (which includes a base salary
Lecturer Level B $71,852 - $85,324 p.a., leave loading and up to 17%
employer's contribution to superannuation)
