Meeting Description: 

The XXXIII International Annual Conference of Società Italiana di Glottologia
(SIG 2008) will be held in Palermo from October 16th through 18th, 2008. It aims
at being a forum for both Italian and international invited speakers to present
their papers in the area of historical linguistics and general linguistics. The
conference topic will be 'Relationships and Interfaces Between Historical
Linguistics and General Linguistics', including interrelations between
traditional methods of addressing Indo-European issues and more recent
linguistic theories. 

There will be a poster section for younger reseachers, who are invited to submit
their abstracts from all areas of historical linguistics. Abstracts should be no
longer than one page, including main references. The deadline for abstract
submission is September 6th, 2008.
