Dear Members, 

My name is Andreas L. Katonis, I work at the University of Thessaloniki,
Greece. In Greece, for academics a "redefinition" is recommended this year.
This is part of a package of reforms. I have been appointed to my post to
teach speech science, but in an alternating curriculum, I still have other
classes, too, the matter of which corresponds to my interests. 

For the redefinition, I am supposed to submit a "good documentation" for a
proposal. An appropriate cover term should be found. I think of something
like "Comparative Philology". I would be pleased to hear your opinion. What
I have studied and what I am engaged in are the following: I studied modern
languages, then I graduated in Classical Philology, and made my PhD in
Linguistics (Historical Phonology). Accordingly, I feel both a philologist
(indeed a classicist) and a linguist. I take an interest in Ancient Greek,
Latin, Theoretical, Historical and Indo-European linguistics, phonology,
and to a minor extent in phonetics.
