MICELT is organised by Universiti Putra Malaysia and is a well attended conference that brings together academicians, practitioners and all related to ELT in order to discuss matters in the field. This year the conference theme is 'Negotiating Change and Continuity in ELT Research and Practice'. The conference will be held at 5-star Hotel Royale Bintang in Seremban, Negeri Sembilan.

MICELT 2008 is organized according to sub-themes or strands. These strands and some possible issues for each strand are as follows:

- Language assessment: Methods of assessing language; oral assessments; school-based assessment; alternative assessments.
- Literature in ELT: Literature as resource; Literature for study; Literature for cultural awareness and personal growth.
- Teaching the language skills: Teaching writing; teaching reading; teaching listening and speaking; Grammar instruction; Effective methodologies and techniques.
- Second Language Acquisition: Developmental sequences; Acquisition of grammatical forms; Acquisition in different contexts 
- Curriculum and program development: Adult language learning programmes; Collaborative programmes; Syllabus types; ESP and EAP.
- Research methodology in ELT: Issues in ELT research; ELT research agenda; Quantitative and qualitative approaches; Action research; Case studies; Transferring research to practice.
