The College

The College of Arts and Sciences (CAS) is composed of nine departments,
covering a wide range of specializations in the Arts and Sciences including
English and Arabic Languages, History, Geography, Social Science,
International Affairs, Mass Communication, Information Science,
Mathematics, Statistics, Physics, Chemistry, Biological Science,
Agricultural Science, Environmental Science, Biomedical Science and Human
Nutrition.      

Position Summary     

The Department of Foreign Languages at Qatar University is seeking
candidates for faculty a position at the rank of Assistant/Associate/Full
professor for Fall 2008. An earned doctorate degree in English Linguistics
is required. 

Position Category: Academic 

Employment Type: Full Time 

Position Term: Three Years Renewable 

Duties and responsibilities: 
1. Teaching general and specialized courses (3 a semester); 
2. Office hours (3 hrs per week); 
3. Supervising graduation projects; 
4. Student advising; 
5. Committee service; 
6. Development of courses and course materials. 
 
Competencies: 
1. Native proficiency in spoken and written English; 
2. Knowledge and practice of active learning methods; 
3. Research strengths in area of specialization; 
4. IT proficiency for personal and classroom use. 
 
Qualifications: 
1. PhD in Linguistics; 
2. Evidence of research productivity; 
3. Minimum of 3 years of teaching experience; 
4. Evidence of quality teaching.
