Dear Colleague,

CRiLLS Launch, April 30 2008

We are writing to you to invite you to the launch of the new Centre for
Research in Linguistics and Language Sciences (CRiLLS), at Newcastle
University, which will be officially launched on April 30. We would be
delighted if you were able to attend. The launch of CRiLLS marks an
important milestone in the development and expansion of linguistics and
language sciences at Newcastle University, bringing together more than 40
academic staff across the University, one of the largest teams of linguists
in Europe. Our strengths lie in both our breadth of expertise, ranging from
the highly theoretical to the very applied, and our range of
interdisciplinary research activities, bridging theory and application. We
expect this event to be a huge success, with plenary addresses given by
three distinguished linguists: Bernard Comrie, David Crystal and Lesley
Milroy. In addition, you will have an opportunity to meet with members of
CRiLLS and discuss our exciting projects and plans for the future. At the
end of the afternoon, there will be a drinks reception and optional dinner.
If you would like to attend the launch please complete the registration
form on our website,
http://www.ncl.ac.uk/linguistics/news/events/item/crills-launch, before the
8 April 2008 to reserve your place. We look forward to welcoming you to
this important event and sincerely hope that you are able to attend.

With best wishes,

There are many ways to donate to LINGUIST!

You can donate right now using our secure credit card form at

Alternatively you can also pledge right now and pay later. To do so, go to:
https://linguistlist.org/donation/pledge/pledge1.cfm

For all information on donating and pledging, including information on how to
donate by check, money order, or wire transfer, please visit:

The LINGUIST List is under the umbrella of Eastern Michigan University and as such
can receive donations through the EMU Foundation, which is a registered 501(c)
Non Profit organization. Our Federal Tax number is 38-6005986. These donations
can be offset against your federal and sometimes your state tax return (U.S. tax
payers only). For more information visit the IRS Web-Site, or contact your
financial advisor.

Many companies also offer a gift matching program, such that they will match any
gift you make to a non-profit organization. Normally this entails your contacting
your human resources department and sending us a form that the EMU Foundation fills
in and returns to your employer. This is generally a simple administrative procedure
that doubles the value of your gift to LINGUIST, without costing you an extra penny.
Please take a moment to check if your company operates such a program.

Thank you very much for your support of LINGUIST!
