We'd like to remind readers that the responses to queries are usually
best posted to the individual asking the question. That individual is
then strongly encouraged to post a summary to the list. This policy was
instituted to help control the huge volume of mail on LINGUIST; so we
would appreciate your cooperating with it whenever it seems appropriate.

In addition to posting a summary, we'd like to remind people that it
is usually a good idea to personally thank those individuals who have
taken the trouble to respond to the query.

I'm working on my dissertation about the morphology of a Westgermanic
dialect and I'm looking for a comparable phenomenon in any other
Westgermanic (or any other) language.

In Saarland German, a dialect spoken near the Luxemburg border, the suffix
signalizing the past participle of strong inflection verb class is
generally deleted.
''geschrieben (Standard German) - geschriew (Saarland German) - written
(BE)''.

But if the past participle is used as adjective, the suffix reappears again.
''geschriebene Nachricht (Standard German) - geschrieweni Nohricht
(Saarland German) - written news (BE)''

I don't know if in other languages and dialects, morphemes can be deleted
and added again to the same word form when used in different contexts. As
far as my knowledge, morpheme deletion deletes morphemes permanently.

If any of you know about such phenomena, please let me know.

Best regards
