Description:

The Department of Humanities at the University of Toronto Scarborough
(UTSC) invites applications for the following four part-time (.5)
appointments at the rank of Lecturer, starting July 1, 2008 and ending June
30, 2009 with a possibility of renewal. The positions involve teaching
undergraduate language courses at the elementary, intermediate, or advanced
levels, and coordinating language course offerings. 

Arabic: PhD or PhD near completion in Arabic Language Studies; excellent
command of Arabic and knowledge of its structure; experience in teaching
Arabic as a second language; an aptitude for teamwork. Expertise in one or
more of the following: second language acquisition, current second language
teaching methodology, and linguistics or applied linguistics. Familiarity
with computer-enhanced/web-based language instruction would be an asset. 

Hindi: PhD or PhD near completion in Hindi Language Studies; excellent
command of Hindi and knowledge of its structure; experience in teaching
Hindi as a second language; an aptitude for teamwork. Expertise in one or
more of the following: second language acquisition, current second language
teaching methodology, and linguistics or applied linguistics. Familiarity
with computer-enhanced/web-based language instruction would be an asset.

Mandarin: PhD or PhD near completion in Mandarin Language Studies;
excellent command of Mandarin and knowledge of its structure; experience in
teaching Mandarin as a second language; an aptitude for teamwork. Expertise
in one or more of the following: second language acquisition, current
second language teaching methodology, and linguistics or applied
linguistics. Familiarity with computer-enhanced/web-based language
instruction would be an asset. 

Sanskrit: PhD or PhD near completion in Sanskrit; knowledge of the
structure of Sanskrit; experience in teaching Sanskrit; an aptitude for
teamwork. Expertise in one or more of the following would be an asset:
linguistics or applied linguistics; language teaching methodology; and
computer-enhanced/web-based language instruction.
