Aim:
The Master Degree in Languages Applied aims at providing students with  the
opportunity to acquaint themselves with the  practical and professional
applications of languages. The specificity of this Master stems from its
inclusive applied linguistics profile,  including contents in the following
areas: language teaching, text editing and layout, language consultancy for
the media, intercultural communication, terminology, ICT language
resources, translation, and pragmatics. 

Degree structure: 
The Master Degree in Languages Applied is a 60 credits ECTS* programme for
applicants with a four-year degree in the area of of languages, linguistics
or applied linguistics. The programme includes 45 credits ECTS
corresponding to compulsory and optional modules and 15 credits ECTS
involving either a Master Thesis or a Practicum. The programme is designed
so that it can be completed in a year. Applicants with a three-year degree
or a four-year degree in an area different from those mentioned previously
are required to complete a 'foundational' block of module of 60 credits ECTS.

*ECTS: The European Credit Transfer and Accumulation System is a
student-centred system based on the student workload required to achieve
the objectives of a programme. The University of Lleida 1 ECTS has been
defined as equivalent to a student workload of 25 hours.

Format: 
The Master Degree in Languages Applied is offered in a format that combines
distance-learning methods and tools with a monthly seminar as well as
optional individual or group tutorials. Students living outside Catalonia,
who cannot attend the monthly seminar or the tutorials for each module,
will be expected to visit the University of Lleida for a period no longer
than a week at the end of the programme.

- Publication of the resolution on the master website: 19 June 2008
- Registration: from 10 to 15 July 2008
