Job description:
This project, funded by KNAW, aims to investigate what kind of event
representations functional bilinguals operate with, that is, what meanings they
select and how they organise them for expression as they describe events.
Specifically, it seeks to examine the nature of event representations underlying
code-switching. To explore these issues, the project will examine bilingual and
code-switched speech and speech-associated gesture production and compare it to
monolingual production in the domain of voluntary and caused motion in Dutch and
French. The project is related to ongoing research in Nijmegen on event
representations in speech and gesture in second language acquisition as well as
on bilingual processing more generally.

competences' conducted at the Centre for Language Studies, a research institute
that is part of the national Graduate School in Linguistics (LOT), a KNAW
