Description:

The department of cognitive linguistics at Goethe University in Frankfurt
am Main, Germany, invites applications for a post-doc position in German
linguistics at the level of a research fellow, commencing March 1, 2009.
The appointment period is three years. The appointment is renewable. The
general restrictions of the German ?Wissenschaftszeitvertragsgesetz" and
?Hessisches Hochschulgesetz" apply.

Applicants must hold a doctoral degree or an equivalent qualification in
linguistics (completed by the start of the appointment) with evidence of
strong research potential: speciality formal semantics. The appointed
candidate will be expected (a) to participate in the university's
self-administration, (b) to teach at least four courses or seminars per
year on some topic within the area of German linguistics at the
undergraduate level and in the B.A./M.A. program ?Kognitive Linguistik".
Preference will be given to candidates able to teach in German and English.
(c) Independent research is possible and desired.

Applicants should submit a c.v., representative samples of their research
in formal semantics, and arrange for two letters of recommendation to be
sent directly to Prof. Dr. T. E. Zimmermann at the address given below.

The salary is determined in accordance with the
?Bundesangestelltentarifvertrag" (BAT) at the level of IIa. All qualified
candidates are encouraged to apply. Goethe University Frankfurt is an equal
