Urgent - deadline imminent (3 December 2008):

The Department of Humanities at the University of Gloucestershire, UK,
invites applications for the following post:

Post type: Part-time, Hourly-Paid (NB: starting 5 Jan 2009 for one semester)
Area: English Language 

Modules to be taught:

1) The second half of a year-long, level-two module entitled 'Language in
Theory and Practice'. The second half of the module involves students in
practical discourse analysis of a range of texts. 

2) A level-one module entitled 'Language Games', This first year module
introduces students to pragmatics and a range of introductory linguistic
debates.

Applicants should have completed some postgraduate study in linguistics,
should have experience of analysing written discourse, and be prepared to
work closely with students in analysing texts. Experience of, or interest
in, analysing multimodal texts (film, magazines etc) would be a particular
advantage.

The contact time is two hours per week per module (i.e., 4 hours per week
in total for twelve weeks)

Rate of remuneration commensurate with academic experience

Semester Two begins on the 5th of January 2009.
