Description:

Software Engineer 

We are currently seeking experienced Software Engineers to join our R&D
team in San Diego developing natural language machine translation systems.
The successful candidate will work collaboratively in an informal team
environment with other software engineers and linguistic specialists. This
candidate would have a strong knowledge of linguistics or at least a strong
interest in the abstract principles of natural language, as well as an
interest in developing and enhancing the capabilities of machine
translation.  Most of our development involves the processing of large
bodies of textual data in multiple non-Roman alphabets.

Responsibilities include:
-  Software development, experimentation, analysis of results, and building
systems that combine linguistics and statistical language models for
machine translation of several languages.

Skills:
-  Thorough knowledge of and experience with the principles and practices
of the discipline of Software Engineering.
-  Expert-level programming ability in Perl. 
-  Competent programming ability in C++.
-  Competent in Unix/Linux shell scripting in bash or tksh.
-  Thorough understanding of XML and HTML.
-  Thorough understanding of character encodings eg ASCII, DBCS, Unicode,
UTF-8.
-  Competency in computational complexity and scalability as it relates to
text processing.

Education and Experience:
-  BS or MS in Computer Science or closely related discipline with software
development emphasis.
-  BS: 6 years professional experience writing production software. 
-  MS: 4 years professional experience writing production software .
