Meeting Description:

The 2008 Annual Research Forum of the Linguistic Society of Hong Kong will be
hosted by the University of Hong Kong, on December 6-7, 2008. The theme of this
year's ARF is 'From Theory to Practice'. Our keynote speaker is Professor
Suzanne Flynn from MIT. As is customary ARF practice, there will be multiple
parallel sessions and papers related to any areas of linguistics are strongly
encouraged. 

Call for Papers

Each paper will be allotted 20 minutes for oral presentation and 10 minutes for
discussion. 

Please note that all presenters (or at least one of them in a co-authored paper)
have to be an LSHK member. Each member is maximally entitled to one
single-author presentation and one joint presentation. Each submission will be
an abstract of no more than 400 words in English or 800 characters in Chinese.
Abstract submissions and registration will be done online at www.lshk.org. Email
and/or paper abstract submissions will NOT be accepted. 

Authors of selected presentations will be invited to submit a paper for
inclusion in the Selected Papers to be published by the Society.

24th Comparative Germanic Syntax Workshop (CGSW 24)

The Center for Research in Syntax, Semantics and Phonology (CRISSP,
www.crissp.be) in Brussels is pleased to announce the 24th Comparative Germanic
Syntax Workshop. It will be held in Brussels from May 28 till May 29, 2009.  The
conference is on any aspect of comparative Germanic syntax, including diachronic
syntax and the interface between syntax and other components of the grammar. 

Call for Papers
 
We invite abstracts for thirty-minute talks (followed by ten minutes of
discussion) on any aspect of comparative Germanic syntax, including diachronic
syntax and the interface between syntax and other components of the grammar.

Abstract Guidelines:
Abstracts should not exceed two pages, including data, references and diagrams.
Abstracts should be typed in at least 11-point font, with one-inch margins
(letter-size; 8"1/2 by 11" or A4) and a maximum of 50 lines of text per page.
Abstracts must be anonymous and submissions are limited to 1 individual and 1
joint abstract per author.

Only electronic submissions will be accepted. Send name, affiliation, e-mail,
mailing address and title of the paper in the body of the message. Add two
attachments:
- an anonymous abstract in pdf-format for reviewing
- an abstract in pdf-format with your name and affiliation on it for the
abstract booklet
