Description:

The Language and Linguistics Program at Queen's University invites
applications for a faculty appointment in Phonology at the rank of
Assistant (or Associate) Professor under the Queen's National Scholars
(QNS) Program
(http://www.queensu.ca/principal/funding/nationalscholar/details). The
program seeks to enrich teaching and research at Queen's University through
a university wide competition, this year with up to two positions offered
in the humanities and social sciences. Preference will be given to scholars
to be appointed at the rank of Assistant (or Associate) Professor.

Language and Linguistics administers three undergraduate programs in
Linguistics; An Interdisciplinary Program in Language and Linguistics, a
Medial Program in Linguistics, and a Minor Program in Linguistics. We are
seeking to strengthen and expand our course offerings in Phonology and
Phonetics with a view to the immediate development of a Major Program in
Linguistics. Applicants should have a Ph.D. in Linguistics with a primary
specialization in Phonology and a strong background in Phonetics.
Preference will be given to candidates in the early- (or mid) career stage
who have an outstanding record of research in theoretical phonology, a
strong background in phonetics, and show evidence of strong achieved or
potential teaching quality in both areas.

Applications should include the following: 
- A curriculum vitae, a statement of research activities (current and
proposed), a statement regarding teaching interests and experience or
potential;
- A minimum of three letters of reference, preferably from more than one
university or other appropriate institution; for recent Ph.D.'s, the
letters of reference should include an assessment from a referee not
directly involved in a supervisory capacity in the doctoral research;
- Any other materials which may be helpful to the Search Committee,
including information concerning any interruptions in the candidate's
academic career.
