Description:

The University of Macau, a government-funded institution located in the
Macao Special Administrative Region of the People's Republic of China. The
Department of Portuguese of the Faculty of Social Sciences and Humanities
(FSH) invites applications for the academic position in the following area: 

Translation and Interpreting (Chinese - Portuguese) Assistant Professor /
Senior Instructor

Qualifications:
(Assistant Professor)
Applicants must be first language speakers of Portuguese with a sound
knowledge of the Chinese language and culture. Applicants must hold a Ph.D.
degree in the area of translation from an accredited institution. A
research profile and practical experience in the translation/interpreting
area involving the Portuguese and Chinese languages are necessary
qualifications. Additional qualifications and experience in the teaching of
Portuguese as a foreign language will be an advantage. The appointee will
be required to teach courses at the undergraduate and postgraduate levels
and to provide M.A. dissertation supervision.

(Senior Instructor)
Applicants must be first language speakers of Portuguese with a sound
knowledge of the Chinese language and culture. Applicants must hold a
Master's degree in the area of translation from an accredited institution.
A research profile and practical experience in the translation/interpreting
area involving the Portuguese and Chinese languages are necessary
qualifications. Additional qualifications and experience in the teaching of
Portuguese as a foreign language will be an advantage. The appointee will
be required to teach courses at the undergraduate level and to help, under
supervision, in the Master's in Translation Studies program.

Position and Taxable Annual Salary:
The position offered and taxable salary level shall be determined according
to the appointee's academic qualifications, current position, and

Assistant Professor: MOP536,900-MOP619,500
Senior Instructor: MOP330,400-MOP454,300
(USD1 approx. =MOP8) 

The appointment will be from September 2009.
