Description:

Computational Linguistics Research Programmer

The PwC Center for Advanced Research (CAR) seeks an outstanding
computational linguistics research programmer for a groundbreaking R&D
project. CAR is a technology research and development organization charged
with creating competitive advantage for the firm by applying advanced
technology and thinking to important practice problems. Located in the
heart of Silicon Valley in the San Jose office, CAR thrives in a unique,
collaborative, high performance environment with researchers, scientists
and subject matter experts from all over the globe. We recruit
self-motivated people who have a passion for innovation and changing the
established order.  

The successful candidate will contribute new research ideas and develop
them into software prototypes for a cutting edge R&D project in its early
start up phases. Your creativity, innovation, and team work will be key to
the creation of a successful text and data analysis and visualization product.

Responsibilities:
-  Generate, implement and evaluate new research ideas in computational
linguistics and related areas
-  Work with the team to integrate research components with the larger system
-  Contribute to patentable research and the writing of patents;
opportunity to publish
-  Gain an understanding of the business in order to contribute research
with impact
-  Stay current on state-of-the art research
-  Follow software development best practices

Requirements:
-  PhD or equivalent in Computational Linguistics, Computer Science, or
related field
-  Highly competent software development skills
-  Willing to follow group coding standards and design
-  Ability to create well-modularized, maintainable software
-  Excellent spoken communication skills
-  .NET experience a plus
-  Real world development experience a plus
-  Familiarity with Machine Learning and Data Mining techniques a plus

Ability to function independently and as part of a team under aggressive
deadlines in a fast-paced environment, convey a strong professional image,
exhibit interest and positive attitude toward all assigned work, and strive
for continued improvement. The successful candidate will enjoy the risk and

The position is in San Jose, CA. Compensation is commensurate with
