Meeting Description:

June 3-4, 2009
Colloque portant sur l'étymologie et la traduction, proposé par le CIRHILL, à
l'Université Catholique de l'Ouest, Angers (France).

The topics of this conference are etymology and translation matters. It is
organized by the CIRHILL at the Catholic University of the West in Angers,
France. Papers may be submitted in English.

To follow up on its conference on Etymology of March 2008, the CIRHiLL
(Center for Interdisciplinary Research in History, Language and Literature) is
pleased to invite papers for its next conference dealing with the relationship
between "Etymology and Translation". It is planned for 3 and 4 June 2009 at the
Catholic University in Angers (Loire Valley), France.
This conference welcomes translators as well as teachers of translation,
philologists, lexicologists, lexicographers, writers, proofreaders and all
academics wishing to share their views on the role of etymology in the art
of translating. Research field may include:
- Translation Studies
- Literature Analysis
- General Linguistics
- Philology
- Lexicology
- Semantics
- Poetics
- Corpus Linguistics

Please send proposals for contributions together with a short outline to
annie.birks at uco.fr before 3rd January 2009.

The presentations and articles must be either in French or in English. Further
information will be sent by e-mail to the participants.

Selected papers may be published in a corresponding volume.
