Description:

The Department of Modern Languages & Literatures of Loyola College in
Maryland seeks a Language Learning Center Manager. The Manager is
responsible for the daily operation of the Language Learning Center
including the supervision and training of student workers. The Manager
hires, trains, directs, and evaluates the student staff, assists Modern
Languages & Literatures faculty in implementing courseware and technology,
takes the initiative in investigating and implementing new technologies,
develops proposals for the outside funding of larger projects, and teaches
two language courses per semester. 

The Manager of the Language Learning Center must be both a capable
administrator and a knowledgeable technician. The successful candidate will
have the organizational skills to support language, culture and literature
materials for four major/minor programs as well as a core-language sequence
in six languages. He or she will have a knowledge of and experience with
computers, satellite transmission, network interfacing, and emerging
technologies. An applicant should possess an M.S. or M.A. in Instructional
Technology, a modern language other than English, Linguistics,
Foreign-Language Pedagogy, or Education. He or she should also have
experience teaching language classes in a modern language. 

Loyola College is a dynamic, highly selective, Jesuit Catholic institution
in the liberal arts tradition and is organized as a leading independent,
comprehensive university in the northeastern United States. Located in a
beautiful residential section of Baltimore with Graduate Centers in
Timonium and Columbia, Loyola enrolls over 3200 students in its
undergraduate programs and 3000 students in its graduate programs. The
