The Brandeis University Department of Computer Science and Program in
Language and Linguistics is pleased to announce the formation of a new
Masters Program in Computational Linguistics. Applications for the Program
will be considered on a rolling basis for Fall 2009 admission. 

The MA in Computational Linguistics offers an exceptional opportunity for
students with degrees in Computer Science or Linguistics to develop a
mastery of the theoretical foundations and empirical tools needed to apply
Computational Linguistics to solve critical real-world problems.

Immerse yourself in the scientific study of language from a computational
perspective. Computational linguistics draws on the expertise of faculty
members and innovative interdisciplinary research from computer science
(artificial intelligence, theory of computation, and programming methods),
language and linguistics (phonology, syntax, semantics, and pragmatics),
philosophy, cognitive science, and psychology.

We offer a 2-year MA program in Computational Linguistics, and for
Brandeis Undergraduates, a 5-year combined BA/MA program.  There are
several tracks to accommodate students of varying background,
including those with little or no computer science, as well as
computer science students with little or no linguistics background.
For-credit internships with local companies are available in the
second year of study, along with the opportunity to conduct research
within the department.
