Meeting Description:

The era of globalization and international developments have prompted the
increasing interest in the learning of English both for individuals and nations
in all parts of the world. Hence, the role of English language teaching and
learning is an important issue that needs to be explored. This exploration is
expected to be a meaningful intellectual activity which may raise significant
endeavors to escalate the ELT advancement as a response to the increasing demand
for higher quality ELT programs to answer global challenges. It also will be a
pathway to enlighten English practitioners toward stimulating discussion about
the quality of ELT.  Raising questions about quality ELT can help improve EFL
teaching, policies and practices, both at universities and schools. 

Call for Papers

Objectives
- To share practitioners' teaching practices 
- To find innovative strategies for improving ELT quality and advancement to a 
level accepted and effective in different countries 
- To discuss ELT problems and its solutions

Paper summaries and presentation proposals (that are expected to be presented to
the conference) should cover these following sub topics:
- Problems and Solutions of ELT in Different Countries 
- English for Specific Purposes (ESP) 
- English for Young Learners (EYL) 
- Standardizing ELT Quality Assurance 
- Teacher's Professional Development 
- Language Assessment 
- Cultural Awareness 
- The Role of Literature in ELT 
- Information and Communication Technology (ICT) in ELT 
- Translation in ELT 

The summary (not abstract) of the presentation should be sent to the Conference
Secretariat no later than 30 August 2009. 

The summary should meet the following requirements: the length of the summary
should be between 400-500 words. The title of the summary should not exceed 15
words. Biographical data should not exceed 100 words and should be written on a
separate page in the third person.

- The summary of an opinion paper should have: the title, full name (with no
academic title), institution, e-mail address, the purpose of the paper,
arguments, elaboration of arguments, recommendations or closing remarks, and 
keywords.
- The summary of a research paper should have the following elements: the title,
full name (with no academic title), institution, e-mail address, the purpose of
paper, method, findings, discussion, conclusion or recommendation, and keywords. 
- The workshop proposal should have: the title, full name (with no academic
title), institution, e-mail address, the purpose or workshop, activities, and
suggestions. 
- The summary of poster/film presentation proposal should have: the title, full
name (with no academic title), institution, e-mail address, and the purpose of
the presentation. 
- The summary of author paper should have: the title, full name (with no
academic title), institution, e-mail address, and the description of the book
and its importance. 
- The summary of teacher paper should have: the title, full name (with no
academic title), institution, e-mail address, and the purpose of the paper, the
arguments, recommendations, and closing remarks 

Notification for Paper Acceptance will be sent by 30 September 2009, and the
full paper/posters should be sent in both soft and hard copy by 16 October 2009.
Full paper is optional (not required) but accepted. Unedited full papers will be
compiled in a CD and made available to the participants.  Posters should be no
more than 24" (61 cm) x 48" (122 cm), and the film should be in form of any of
these files: FLV, MOV, Mpeg, MPG, AVI in 20 minutes duration.

Criteria for Acceptance
All proposals will be evaluated by the conference committee. The acceptance will
be based on the relevance to the theme of the conference, freshness and
originality of ideas.

Copyright/Publication
The TEFLIN Board reserves the copyright of all papers of the conference. 
Selected papers will be considered for publication in TEFLIN Journal.
