The LINGUIST List strongly encourages employers to use
non-discriminatory standards in hiring policy. In particular we urge
that employers do not discriminate on the grounds of race, ethnicity,
nationality, age, religion, gender, or sexual orientation. However, we
have no means of enforcing these standards.

Job seekers should pay special attention to language in ads regarding
employment requirements and are encouraged to consult our international
employment page http://linguistlist.org/jobs/jobnet.html. This page has been set
up so that people can report on the employment standards of various countries.

The Department of Cognitive Science at Johns Hopkins University seeks one

and directing cognitive research. Two areas of cognitive science are of
particular interest: psycholinguistics and vision. Within the former

syntax/semantics/pragmatics, carry out research that makes substantive
contact with linguistic theory, and integrate experimental and
computational methods. Within the latter area, the ideal candidate should
address mid- to high-level vision, conduct research that makes substantive
contact with theories of vision, and integrate multiple approaches (e.g.,
formal theoretical, behavioral, neuroimaging, computational). The rank is
open, although preference may be given to Assistant Professor appointments.
Candidates should carry out integrative work in the target areas, and have
the ability to conduct effective teaching, student supervision, and
