Description:

The Department of Linguistics at Stanford University announces a search for
a full-time tenure-track faculty member, at the level of Assistant
Professor, specializing in either sociolinguistics or syntax.  The starting
date is September 1, 2010.  

The department particularly values research which integrates insights from
different subfields of linguistics and from other disciplines, bringing a
variety of types of evidence to bear on the development of theories of
language and language use.  Duties include teaching and advising at both
the graduate and undergraduate levels and maintaining an active research
program.  Candidates should hold the PhD in linguistics or a related field
by the starting date.

Applications should be submitted in electronic format only, to the
application email below.   All documents should be sent as individual files
in PDF format (i.e., not zipped), and can be submitted in a single email.

Applications should include a CV, statements of research and teaching
interests, teaching evaluations (if available), up to three representative
samples of published or unpublished work, and the names and e-mail
addresses of three or four references.  All applicants should also arrange
for their letters of reference to be sent via email, in PDF format,
directly to the Search Committee at the application email address.

The review of applications will begin on November 2, 2009, and applicants
are strongly encouraged to ensure that their files are complete by that
date; however, applications will continue to be accepted until the position
is filled.
