Meeting Description:

The Fourth Brno Conference on Linguistics Studies in English Interpretation of
Meaning in Spoken and Written Discourse will be held in Brno on 16-17 September
2010. The host institution will again be the Department of English Language and
Literature at the Faculty of Education of Masaryk University. 

The Fourth Brno Conference focuses on interpretation of meaning in spoken and
written discourse. While the thematic scope of the contributions is expected to
be very wide, we particularly welcome topics exploring aspect of discourse
coherence, cohesion relations, pragmatic strategies in the interpretation of
discourse, dialogic aspects of written and spoken interaction, genre-specific
strategies for the negotiation of meaning in spoken and written discourse. 

Call for Papers

The Conference will take place at the Faculty of Education, Masaryk University,
Brno. A detailed programme of the two-day conference will be sent after the
submission of proposals. 

We are pleased to announce that the following keynote speakers have confirmed 
their participation at the Conference:
Prof. Henry Widdowson, University of Vienna
Prof. Laslo Komlosi, University of Pécs

All contributions presented at the Conference will be published either in the 
Conference Monograph or in the linguistics journal Discourse and Interaction. 
Authors will receive a free copy of the respective volume. Further copies may be
ordered.

The abstracts should be sent by e-mail (malaskom at gmail.com) by 5 June 2010.
