non-discriminatory standards in hiring policy. In particular we urge
that employers do not discriminate on the grounds of race, ethnicity,
nationality, age, religion, gender, or sexual orientation. However, we
have no means of enforcing these standards.

Job seekers should pay special attention to language in ads regarding
employment requirements and are encouraged to consult our international

Description:

Text Mining Scientific Programmer for Brain Architecture Project

Applications are invited for the position of Scientific Programmer for the
Brain Architecture Project, a multi-institutional collaboration based at
Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory. The project aims to assemble available
knowledge about the structure of the vertebrate nervous system and to
provide relevant analytical and visualization tools. See mitralab.org and
brainarchitecture.org for more information.

The scientific programmer will provide general computing support for the
Brain Architecture Project, including the development of data models and
the implementation of databases / knowledge bases for the project. The
scientific programmer will also assist in developing and managing web
tools/sites using various technologies including Java/J2EE (JSF, Spring,
Hibernate, Tomcat), the plone/zope framework and assorted CGI scripts.
Experience using SQL relational databases is required.

A main focus of the project involves the collation and integration of
neuroanatomical information in the extant literature into a comprehensive
database. Knowledge of or strong interest in text mining and natural
