We'd like to remind readers that the responses to queries are usually
best posted to the individual asking the question. That individual is
then strongly encouraged to post a summary to the list. This policy was
instituted to help control the huge volume of mail on LINGUIST; so we
would appreciate your cooperating with it whenever it seems appropriate.

In addition to posting a summary, we'd like to remind people that it
is usually a good idea to personally thank those individuals who have
taken the trouble to respond to the query.

To post to LINGUIST, use our convenient web form at

Dear Linguists,

I have a question concerning Malayo-Polynesian languages. Since I am
working on reduplicative processing from a cross-linguistic perspective, I
have analyzed some interesting patterns in Ponapean, Tigar and Mokilese on
VV formations and argument structures.

To find independent evidence for my claims, though, I need to answer the
following two questions. I was wondering if anybody can give me
information. I will not say more about the patterns I found so not to
influence possible answers.

1) Does noun incorporation exist in any of these languages, like to horse
ride or to baby sit in English?
2) Does conversion from noun to verb exist in such languages, like Clinton
? to Clinton in English?

Thank you very much for any suggestions,
Muriel
