Meeting Description:

The Organization Committee is pleased to announce the XI Encuentro Internacional
de Lingüística en el Noroeste, which will be held on the 17-20 November 2010 at
the Universidad de Sonora, Hermosillo, Sonora, México. Keynote speakers would
proximally be announced. 

Call for Papers

XI Encuentro Internacional de Lingüística en el Noroeste
November 17-20, 2010. 
Universidad de Sonora. Hermosillo, Mexico

Sponsored and organized by 
El Departamento de Letras y Lingüística de la  
Universidad de Sonora.

Submissions could be included in one the following linguistic fields: phonetic
phonology, morphology, syntax, semantics, pragmatics, psycholinguistics, L1 and
L2 acquisition, sociolinguistics, computational linguistics, clinical
linguistics, educational linguistics, lexicography, historical linguistics, 
discourse analysis.

Abstracts for presentations and posters from faculty, researchers and graduate
students are welcomed. Speakers may propose topic-specific sessions, which
should include a minimum of three speakers and a maximum of six. Please contact
the Committee (see below) within the period of abstract reception in order to
arrange sessions.

Speakers will have 20 minutes for presentation and 10 minutes for discussion. A
subset of papers presented at the conference will be published in the conference
proceedings (to be available on the date of the next Encuentro, November 2012)

Deadline for abstract submission: April 1st, 2010

Abstract Submission Guidelines:
1. Abstracts are accepted by electronic submission only, as e-mail attachments
in Word 1997-2003 and PDF format, and should be sent to 
encuentro at guaymas.uson.mx 
2. Abstracts must be anonymous and can be presented either in Spanish or 
English. Please specify whether the abstract is for oral presentation or poster.
3. A maximum of one abstract per author or two if co-authored are allowed. 
4. Abstracts may not exceed 500 single-spaced words, using 12 points Times New
Roman font. 
5. The abstract must contain the following information:
a) The paper' name
b) A clear statement of the main point or argument of the paper, briefly
discussing the problem or research question with reference to previous or
related research, and the work's relevance to developments in the field.
c) Short examples (if required)
d) Conclusions should be stated, however tentative.
e) No more than five references 

6. Please provide the following information in the body of your message or as a
separate attachment:

The paper's name
The author or authors' name
Institutional Affiliation
Country
Areas of interest in linguistics (2-3 areas)
Academic status (faculty/researcher/grad student/)
The preferred (institutional or home) mailing address for notification, main 
and alternative 
Email addresses and telephone/fax numbers
Audio-visual and/or electronic devices needed for presentation.

7. If the abstract include any special fonts, please specify them or send a hard
copy of your abstract to the Fax number: (52)(662)212-55-29

Notices of acceptance or non-acceptance will be sent by July 2, 2010
