Meeting Description:

AACL covers all aspects of corpus linguistics. The conference continues the
tradition of previous conferences of the American Association for Corpus
Linguistics and the American Association for Applied Corpus Linguistics.
Previous meetings have been held at different universities in the United States
since 1998, including Northern Arizona University (2006, 2000), the University
of Michigan (2005, 1999), Montclair State (2004), IUPUI (2002), and Univ.
Massachusetts-Boston (2001). 

Call for Papers

Faculty, graduate students, and independent scholars are invited to submit
abstracts for 15-minute papers on any aspect of corpus linguistics. Papers are
welcome from a range of subfields, including corpus linguistics and endangered
languages, corpus creation, open source corpora (philosophy and practice),
corpus annotation, linguistic analyses of corpora, visualization of large data
sets, register/genre variation, lexicography, parallel corpora, tagging and
parsing, software development, and the use of corpora in language learning and
teaching.

Aston Corpus Conference for Postgraduate Researchers: Thursday 21 MAY 2009

The objective of the Corpus Conference for Postgraduate Researchers, organized
by the ACORN project team of the School of Languages and Social Sciences at
Aston University, is to enable postgraduates to present their corpus-related
research in a friendly environment. As with last year, we are combining the
conference with the Aston Corpus Symposium, which will take place on the
following day. Postgraduates will thus have the opportunity to hear experts talk
about their past and current projects.

Abstracts written in English of max 300 words (with bibliographical references)
for a 20 minute paper should be sent by *27 February 2009* to
tanguaye at aston.ac.uk. The preferred file formats are .doc and .pdf. Author's
name, affiliation, and contact details should be provided in a separate attachment.

Presenters will also be invited to submit a 3,000-word conference paper to be
published in the online conference proceedings.

Authors of accepted abstracts will be notified by 10 March 2009.

Presentations can focus on any corpus-related topic.

in various corpus-related fields. The programme will consist of presentations by
