Abstract:

Die Globalisierung verlangt mehr als je nach einer multilingualen
Kommunikation, doch ökonomische Zwänge haben die Verwendung einer einzigen
lingua franca bewirkt. Dies kollidiert mit dem seit geraumer Zeit
postulierten egalitären Multilingualismus der europäischen Institutionen,
die nicht zuletzt auf linguistische Menschenrechte verweisen, die jedem das
Recht zugestehen, seine Sprache immer und überall verwenden zu dürfen.
Angesichts dieses Gegensatzes können Translatoren, sofern sie eine
umfassende Ausbildung erhalten haben, sowohl zu einer effizienten
Kommunikation als auch zur Wahrung der weltweiten sprachlichen Vielfalt
beitragen.

In diesem Kontext haben sich die Redner des CIUTI FORUMs 2006 an einen noch
jungen Wissenschaftsbereich gewagt, der sich mit Fragen der
wirtschaftlichen Attraktivität von Sprachen befasst. Eine der Hauptursachen
für die Attraktivität einer Sprache ist die Beteiligung ihrer Sprecher am
Welthandel. Denn je höher eine solche Beteiligung der Bevölkerung eines
Staates ist, umso höher ist die wirtschaftliche Stärke einer Sprache, umso
höher ist dann auch der Bedarf an Translationsleistungen, an Übersetzern
und an Ausbildungseinrichtungen für diese.
