Abstract:

Las lenguas humanas son una compleja mezcla de biología e historia. Su
estructura está determinada por un delicado equilibrio entre el
condicionamiento natural procedente del diseño del organismo y la
influencia del entorno. El punto de vista biolingüístico se ha centrado
esencialmente en el estudio del condicionamiento natural, común a todas las
lenguas. Sin embargo, las lenguas humanas cambian en el tiempo y ofrecen un
alto grado de diversidad estructural. A través de la comparación entre
lenguas y especies, en el presente ensayo se concibe la diversidad de las
lenguas como una consecuencia del cambio lingüístico y se desarrolla una
propuesta de cómo se debe abordar la diversidad de las lenguas en el tiempo
y en el espacio desde el punto del vista biolingüístico, todo ello
orientado a una indagación sobre qué nos dice esa diversidad acerca de la
facultad humana para el lenguaje.
