international conference will be held on October 24-25, 2009. The conference
will take place at Dongduk Women's University  in Seoul. 
The conference theme is "E-language learning and testing in a globalized era."
Several keynote speakers will be invited to deliver a speech on their recent
research. Other areas of research on multimedia and foreign language teaching
and learning will also be presented.

Learning," whose members consist of professors, teachers, and students from
mostly Asian countries. This organization consists of two national
organizations: KAMALL(Korea Association of Multimedia-assisted Language
Learning) and ROCMELIA (Republic of China Multimedia English Learning).

Call for Papers

Step 1: The submission of one page abstract (no more than 300 words)
Each paper should include a title, the author's name, affiliation, and email
address, and a 300-word abstract. The abstract should be submitted for
consideration by August 20, 2008. The acceptance notification will be sent out
by August 31, 2008.

Step 2: The submission of the Proceedings Material
All Proceedings material should include a title, the author's name, affiliation, 
and email address, a 300-word abstract, key words, the main text and references.
Submitted proceedings material should comprise not more than 13 pages and 
must be written in English or Chinese. Chinese papers should include an English
title and abstract. The text should be single-spaced on an 8.5" x 11" format. 
The letter font and size should be 12-point Times New Roman. The paper 
should be written in MS-Word format. Accepted papers will be published in the
proceedings, with the understanding that the author(s) should register.

Meeting Description:

The Department of Finno-Ugristics of the University of Szeged is pleased to
announce the New trends in Uralistics: typology, syntax, sociolinguistics
conference, to be held from 3 to 5 September, 2009 at the Department of
Finno-Ugristics in Szeged. The objective of the conference is to bring together
linguists who are engaged in research on the typological, syntactic or
sociolinguistic study of the Uralic languages, to exchange ideas across
approaches, theories, methodologies. The conference is intended to bridge the
gap between theoretical, typological, sociolinguistic approaches in general and
Uralic studies, and help to initiate new research projects or collaborations. 

Call for Papers

We therefore invite papers both on theoretical and on empirical aspects from a
language-specific or cross-linguistic perspective. Contributions are expected to
be based either on new data, or new approaches to analysis. We especially
encourage submissions on minor, less well studied Uralic languages and dialects.

Papers are invited on, but not limited to, the following topics:
phonological typology
phonological typology and grammar
morphological typology
synthesis and fusion
syntactic typology
typology of parts of speech
information structure
information-structural categories and types
syntactic hierarchy
clause structure
bilingualism/multilingualism
language endangerment
linguistic human rights
language policy

Elena Skribnik - syntax (University of Munich, Germany)
Tove Skutnabb-Kangas - sociolinguistics (Roskilde University, Denmark - Åbo
Akademi University, Finland)

Submission of Abstracts
Two types of submissions are invited: paper abstracts (20 minutes for
presentation followed by a 10-minute discussion) and poster abstracts. Abstracts
should not exceed 500 words (bibliography excluded) and should be sent
electronically in word AND pdf format to szevers at nytud.hu with the subject
heading "Conference". They must be anonymous. Name(s) of authors, e-mail
address(es) and affiliation(s) should be sent in a separate document. Abstracts
will be reviewed by two readers also anonymously and authors will be notified by
April 30, 2009.
