Lecturer B in Linguistics
Excellent opportunity for early career or more established researchers to
work in a stimulating and challenging research team environment.

The School of Languages and Comparative Cultural Studies is one of the
largest Schools of this type in Australia, with some 46 academic staff
teaching and researching in eight languages: Chinese (Mandarin), French,
German, Indonesian, Japanese, Korean, Russian, and Spanish.  The School
also offers undergraduate and postgraduate studies in Applied Linguistics,
Linguistics and TESOL as well as translation and interpreting in both
Chinese and Japanese as part of its comprehensive languages and studies
programs. 

The program in Linguistics places particular emphasis in its teaching and
research in the areas of descriptive and typological linguistics, formal
and functional linguistic theory, language contact studies, conversation
analysis, inter-language phonetics, and Second Language Acquisition.  The
program has a successful record of ARC and externally funded research.  The
program engages actively in the promotion of linguistics at all levels of
education in Queensland.

With a staff of 46 that are widely published internationally and have
extensive research backgrounds, the School is looking to make a new
appointment to contribute to existing research strengths and establish new
directions within the School.

In the role of Lecturer in Linguistics, you will be expected to engage in
undergraduate and postgraduate teaching, postgraduate supervision and
further development of the School's linguistic programs, as well as
performing research, administrative and other activities associated with
the School and the Linguistic Program.

You should possess a PhD in the area of Linguistics with a demonstrated
ability to be able to develop and teach advanced undergraduate and graduate
courses in Semantics and at least one other area of linguistics.  You
should also be able to show evidence of a successful administrative and
ongoing research and publication profile.

The remuneration package will be in the range $70,968.99 to $84,275.44
p.a., plus employer superannuation contributions of 17% (total package will
be in the range $83,033.72 - $98,602.26 p.a.). This is a full-time,
continuing appointment at Academic level B.
